The Cégep de Sainte-Foy’s cyber security research and development laboratory was awarded a grant by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada(NSERC) to collaborate with Vumetric on an innovative IT Security R&D project.
The cybersecurity lab was given the mandate of creating an algorithm that would evaluate the potential risk of an IT system with an external (public) IP address and integrate it to our IT security management platform. François Gagnon, Research-professor in Computer Science and Head of the Cyber Security Research lab at Cégep de Sainte-Foy explains that «Our is to develop an algorithm to automatically determine, in an automated way, if a system represents a potential security risk based on different factors». The 6-month project will be lead by a student-intern studying in the Computer Science program with a web application specialization.
This new project is the latest in a series of successful projects carried out by the Cégep de Sainte-Foy Cyber Security Lab. The laboratory’s mission is to ease student transition into the cybersecurity workplace, assist cyber IT security businesses and contribute to cybersecurity research and development.
